Wed. Intermediate Wheelthrowing

Students should come to class ready to refine their skills learned in earlier sessions. Topics include troubleshooting throwing techniques and exploring new forms. Students will be encouraged to use larger amounts of clay (4-5lbs.) in this session.

Wed. Beginning Pottery

Discover the working properties of clay. This course will focus on learning to center on the wheel as the basis for forming round objects such as bowls and cups. Glazing will also be discussed and demonstrated to ensure the success of your creations.

There is more than one way to throw a pot---bottom to top or top to bottom . This class is recommended for those who can already center with some confidence. Simple forms can be created from a different perspective.

Ceramica Botanica

Nature is a wonderful source of inspiration. Both wheel thrown and hand-built vessels will be stretched, altered and manipulated in various ways with a nature theme. Exploring numerous surface techniques, we will transform your vessel into a functional form or sculptural object. Think large leaf platters, perhaps plump peach pitchers or over-sized sculptural pears.

Totally Teapot

Oval, wavy, stretched and crazy, the teapot is a wonderful subject that teaches us a balance between creativity and functionality.
Prior clay experience is necessary...the basics will not be covered in this class.
In this 4 week workshop we will explore unusual forming techniques and surprising surface treatments that take us beyond "round". Would you like one lump or two?
