Help build an endowment for the SAA
Founded in 1969, the MIT Student Art Association is a non-credit, hands-on art space serving over 500 MIT graduate students, undergraduates, alumni, and staff, in that order, every year. The SAA is physically comprised of a suite of studios on the fourth floor of the Stratton Student Center: a Clay Studio, a Photo Studio, a Drawing, Painting, and Project Studio, and an independent administrative Office.
SAA classes provide an opportunity for instruction and studio experience in many different arts media at the novice and intermediate levels. SAA studios are accessible 24 hours a day. It is an open place where MIT students can get their hands dirty without being graded.
Over the years, the SAA has become a very frugal and efficient enterprise. With a modest endowment, the SAA could become financially independent, modernize its payroll, all but eliminate student fees, and create new opportunities for creative arts practice.
Endowing and naming the SAA is an opportunity to provide future generations of MIT students with a chance to be creative in a stress free environment.
